All of the offerings at Maceri's Soup & Scoop have a history. Founded in 1936, the Maceri family has been a
staple in the Detroit area's produce industry located in Detroit's Eastern Market, Tom Maceri & Son, one of
southeast Michigan's largest produce distributors, servicing wholesale distributors, retailers, grocery stores,
and restaurants throughout Michigan. Anthony and Lori Maceri are the co-owners of the company. Anthony, a
produce and food industry veteran for more than forty years, learned the ropes from his father, "Detroit's
Produce King" Sam Maceri. Having many years experience in the wholesale and retail food industry, they
realized a restaurant that offered homemade soups made with fresh produce received daily directly to the
family's warehouse from local and nationwide farmers would be a hit, and so far it is! Anthony services many
restaurants throughout Metro Detroit. Not only is Anthony renowned in the wholesale and retail produce
industry, he also has restaurant knowledge. His mother, Josephine Maceri, owned and operated a pizzeria
serving oven baked subs, pasta, and lasagna starting in the 1970's. It was located on Mack Avenue in Grosse
Pointe Woods.

Maceri's have more than 150 varieties of soup that Lori has created so far. She learned the secrets to preparing
food from her grandmother, who helped her mother operate her restaurant. Mazzola's Restaurant was located in
Detroit, Michigan later relocating to Tucson, Arizona. They cooked from family traditions made from scratch,
which is what we do at Maceri's for our extended customer family. Soup is made fresh at the restaurant. You will
not find soup like this anywhere else. Some favorites include Stracciatella, Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Lemon
Rice, Angelina's Minestrone™, Pauline's Chicken Pastina, and "For Real" Vegetable™, which Anthony created
along with their subs in 1984 at Tom Maceri's Fruit Market which he owned and operated with Lori on Detroit's
east side. This year they are celebrating 25 years of soup and subs in Metro Detroit. Together their many years of
experience in the foodservice industry they have created a restaurant that ensures the best quality, service, and
value using only the finest products available.

Another creation at our fruit market was our sub sandwiches. We now sell our sandwiches at our restaurant
along with our famous rolled pita sandwich. We slice our own premium quality meat and cheese for all of our
pitas and subs.

Maceri's Soup & Scoop serves up to forty flavors of National Award-Winning Ashby's Sterling Premium Ice
Cream. Another favorite is their own Homemade Gourmet Italian Ice made onsite with fresh Maceri Produce. It
can be twisted with soft serve for a Gelati Twist. They are served all year round. At Soup & Scoop, we are famous
for the size of our scoops. You will not get that from any other ice cream parlor. Your eyes will be amazed.
Having the scoop side of the restaurant allows Lori to bake signature cakes, ice cream cakes in 30 varieties of
cake flavors baked on-site, pies, brownies, cookies, waffles and waffle cones in a variety of flavors. They are all
baked in house never premade or brought in frozen. You will not find that at any other ice cream store. In 1984,
Ashby's Ice Cream was developed. They are a Michigan Company. They created an ice cream that was as good
as it looked, using the finest ingredients, and lots of them. Ashby's has won numerous awards for its quality and
best new flavors by the National Ice Cream and Retailers Association, the World Dairy Expo, and the LA County
Fair.
